Large Danish Modern Oval Teak Extending Dining Table
Sorry, this product is temporarily out of stock.
A rarely seen and simply stunning large Danish Modern oval teak extending dining table. A truly impressive dining table from all viewpoints. This is an early production, solid wood, Mid-Century Modern dining table, dating to the 50's. Attributed to Ib Kofod Larsen for Chr Christensen Mobelfabrik. A thick solid teak edge runs around the entire perimeter of the table at an angle and showcases the craftsmanship of the makers. Fabulous deep colour and craftsmanship throughout, typical of the Danish Modern movement. The star of this show is the spectacular grain pattern which extends across the table top, inclusive of the leaves. Each of the 2 generous leaves has matching skirting. Giving the table a clean line when they are inserted. The leaves store externally and as is evident, they are a perfect match to the rest of the table. The table is finished with four thick solid teak Wegner style legs. The legs provide a solid and sturdy base, yet they can be removed for moving or storage. Grand when fully extended, the table is also perfect for daily meals. Sits 6 - 8 without the leaves and 12 comfortably with both leaves inserted! The oval shape and extra width is convenient for larger gatherings. This was a cherished family heirloom passed down within a family for 2 generations and is rarely available. Alternatively it would also make a spectacular boardroom table.
