An early-production Danish Modern oval teak extending dining table, dating to the 1950s and attributed to Ib Kofod-Larsen for Chr. Christensen Møbelfabrik. The table is built from solid teak and high grade old-growth teak veneer. A thick angled edge running the full perimeter of the top that highlights the joinery and craftsmanship typical of the best Danish Modern furniture from this era.
The oval top has a deep, rich color and a dramatic grain pattern that runs continuously across the surface, including the two matching leaves. Both leaves store externally and one shares the same skirting and grain match as the main top, so the table reads as a single continuous surface whether it's closed or fully extended. The table rests on two pedestal legs rather than four corner legs, giving it a sturdy, stable base while leaving more legroom for seating around the oval shape; the legs are removable for moving or storage.
Closed, the table comfortably seats 6 to 8. With both leaves inserted, it extends to seat up to 12, making it well suited to large family gatherings, holiday dinners, or as a boardroom table in an office setting. The table has been professionally refinished to a high standard and comes from a single family, where it was a cherished heirloom. Pieces like this in this condition, with matching leaves and pedestal legs intact, are rarely available on the market.
